Hi All,

History is being made in the Province of Ontario with the very first sanctioned pro kickboxing event on Saturday, May 2, 2009. Our very own Sandy Pembroke will be making his pro debut! As I will be attending this event, I would like to know if more people would be interested in travelling down to see this event? Please read the following letter sent out by Muzammal Nawaz, who is headlining. Just respond to the thread if your interested in going!!

Dear Friends,

I am excited about May 2nd 2009.

I have been fortunate to have had a great kickboxing
career. There have been many great fights, difficult
fights, challenging situations, but lots of positive experiences and opportunities to develop myself as an athlete and person.

I credit many people for all the success that has come
my way. The many athletes I have coached, the
training partners I have worked with, the coaches I
have learned from, and the many friends and close
family that have stood beside me. All are wonderful
gifts that I cherish.

If I could name one void in my career, I would have to
say it has been not having had the opportunity to
fight at home.

It has always been a dream of mine to be able to
perform in front of the many friends and family that
have shaped me.

It is through the dedication and perseverance of two extraordinary friends that dream is coming true.

Gus Kandilas and Amer Mustafa have been part of my
kickboxing career the longest. These two persons have
traveled the globe in support of my fights.

Now Gus and Amer have organized the first PRO
Kickboxing show in Ontario in almost 10 years. The
show is fully sanctioned by the Ontario Athletic
Commission.

They have created a management company to support
Canadian professional fighters by providing a forum
for them to fight in Ontario. KICK AXE Promotions is
the company and I am sure you will begin to hear more
about their work in the coming year.

Their first show if Saturday May 2nd and will feature
Canada's newest PRO kickboxers. In addition they will
be feature my good friend and top Canadian athlete
Brad Fowler (London, ON) in a bout against undefeated
WCL Star - John Greubal.

They have also fulfilled my dream by giving me the
opportunity to headline the show with a 10 round bout
with another WCL fighter - Shannon Hudson - from South Carolina. Shannon is a young world ranked kickboxer
and an accomplished PRO boxer as well. I look
forward to this challenge.

I wanted to get the word on this show and encourage
everyone to come to the event as PRO kickboxing makes
a huge comeback in Ontario. It will also be a way to
support the efforts of Gus and Amer as they support
the amateur sport in Canada through their selfless
work with CASK and KO.

It is also be a great honor for me to finally fight in
front of Canadians, the many that have always
supported me, and most of all my friends and family.

Information on the event and how to get tickets can be
found at:

www.KickAxePromotions.com.

They also created a nice promo DVD that can be found
of YOUTUBE (search Northern Conquest).

If you could forward this email to anyone that would
be interested in the event - I would be grateful.

I look forward to seeing you on Saturday May 2nd 2009
...

at Northern Conquest!

Muzammal Nawaz

Hey Gavin,

Here's some more information that I have so far. I've just been informed that I "might" be reffing 2-3 of the pro bouts. The event "Northern Conquest" is being held in at the Sherwood Forest Soccer Dome, 5270 Fairview Rd, Burlington (905)333.0777. Tickets are available from www.ticketbreak.com ($35.00)and also check out www.kickaxepromotions.com to see the profiles on some of the athletes. If we can get a few more people interested, then we can start checking into shared accomodations and travel if everyone wants to save some money.

Hi Holly,

It looks like I will be reffing 2 bouts on the card. I am waiting for Maz to contact me with info on better hotel rates. I suggest everyone who is definately wanting to go, to go ahead and purchase their tickets on line, and I will post shortly on the hotel info, then we can organize transportation.

Here's the hotel info:

The hotel is Quality Hotel - it is actually very nice - it is going to be the host hotel for the event. The cost is $109. It is the cheapest hotel in Burlington.

The number is 1-800-361-6352 or 905-639-9290

When making the booking you should request the Northern Conquest Kickboxing rate.

Hi all,

I was talking to John and he mentioned if we had enough people going we could look into getting a table. I'm sure sure if everyone has already bought their tickets. If so I will just get a ticket. Are the seats assigned? or can you just sit wherever you want? It would be nice to sit together but either way you can count me in!!

The inaugural pro kickboxing event, Northern Conquest, held on May 2nd was an absolute success, with the Canadian athletes winning all bouts againt athletes from South Carolina and New Mexico. Thanks to Holly, Michelle and Gavin for making the trip to Burlington.
